”OMG, c’est crazy”, 2025, flameworking, glassblowing, rugs, glass, borosilicate
My work immerses the viewer in a miniature, imaginary universe. It comprises several elements: coloured blown-glass mountains with organic, misshapen forms, ranging from 9 cm to 20 cm in height, scattered across the floor, as well as a one-metre-tall pedestal. On the wall, near the pedestal, two floating shelves are mounted: one rectangular, the other square. Coloured tufted wool moss carpets, ranging from 10 cm to 30 cm in width, cover the floor and extend onto the pedestal as well as onto the wall shelves. Small figures of approximately 5 cm, created using a torch with coloured glass, evoking abstract microbes and insects, inhabit this space. Endowed with many details, such as bulging eyes, expressive faces, arms and legs, they offer a dynamic and lively presence. Suspended in the air like clouds, perforated spheres of approximately 10 cm in diameter float above this world. The installation, spread across the floor, creates total immersion, inviting the eye to explore this miniature universe from every angle.
I opted for inviting textures and a vivid colour palette in order to encourage viewers to draw closer and observe more carefully. I conceived the composition as a small landscape, with flat moss carpets, slightly taller small figures, even higher mountains, and floating spheres to create depth and a beautiful visual dynamic, as found in nature. The moss reflects my attraction to things that are soft, colourful and dynamic, things one wants to touch. The mountains evoke the sense of wonder I feel when looking at them, that sensation of being tiny in the face of something greater. Finally, the small figures are inspired by microbes, insects, and tiny fragile, intriguing, and colourful creatures. All these elements from nature give me a sense of well-being that I wish to share with the public.
This fantastical world, full of life, draws the eye. It invites the viewer to linger, to discover its details, and to allow themselves to be carried away by a moment of joy, humour, and lightness.
